Wanted: Environmental Advocate – Westfair Communications

Aquarion Water Company is seeking nominations for the 14th Annual Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards. This award recognizes individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the state of Connecticut who have made significant contributions and sustained efforts to protect the environment.

Separate awards are established for environmental contributions by adults, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and students in grades 9 through 12. The student award winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and winners in other categories may choose an environmentally friendly award. The nonprofit organization will receive her $5,000 grant from Aquarion in their honor.

“This year marks the 14th anniversary of the Environmental Champion Awards, a testament to the public’s strong support for environmental stewardship,” Aquarion Water Company President Donald Morrissey said in a press release. “We are thrilled to recognize the extraordinary work of those who have gone above and beyond to protect Connecticut’s natural resources.”

“The passion and dedication of Connecticut’s environmental volunteers is an inspiration to all of us and highlights the importance of collective action to protect the environment,” Morrissey added. “We look forward to celebrating the contributions of these outstanding individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and students to our state’s environment.”

The deadline for nominations is May 3, and a commemorative ceremony is scheduled for June 1 at Beardsley Zoo in Connecticut.
