Surekha appointed as Minister of Environment and Forests

Warangal: Minister MLA Konda Surekha took charge of the environment, forest and endowment portfolios at the secretariat on Sunday in the presence of family members and senior officials.

The minister signed the first file on doubling the compensation for the families of victims killed in man-animal conflicts from 500,000 rupees to 1 million rupees. She also signed a file allowing elephants to be brought in from other states for festivals and events.

Surekha said he would provide 100% support to all development activities of the departments under him.

Later, the minister held a meeting with forest department officials and issued guidelines for improving greenery and working with people as Praja Sevak.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Forest Department Director RM Dobriyal briefed her on the department’s development activities and plans to improve forests and wildlife in collaboration with other departments and private organizations.

Surekha presented a poster on the need to control environmental pollution.

British Columbia Minister of Welfare and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar, Mr. Dobriyal, and Forest Service officials, including Mr. MC Pergain, Mr. Erzing Meru, Dr. Suwanna, Mr. G. Chandra Shekhar Rao, and Ms. Sunita M. Bhagwat. was also in attendance.
