upon On Monday, October 23, 2023, the Brandenburg State Environment Agency rejected Tesla’s objection to its Gigafactory Berlin expansion plan.

The meeting at Elkner City Hall featured a complaint opposed by local environmental groups. Tesla’s Giga Berlin expansion plan. Green League Brandenburg and the Natural Landscape Association did not attend the meeting.

“The debate is a farce,” said Green League state manager Michael Ganshaw. “Of course, we cannot be sure how significant the changes will be.”

Gunshaw pointed to Tesla’s partially blacked-out filing. The partially redacted document served as the basis for the public hearing. The document described Giga Berlin’s annual production capacity for electric vehicles and battery cells.

Tesla has since updated the document, citing expansion plans. Tesla aims to increase its car production capacity from 500,000 cars a year to 1 million cars a year. He also wants to increase battery cell production by 50 gigawatt hours a year to 100 gigawatt hours.

Andre Zigner led a conference on Tesla’s Giga Berlin expansion. Zusigner comes from the state environmental department. He said Tesla’s document updates are legal.

Local residents in the area have voiced concerns about the resources Tesla will need to ramp up production at Giga Berlin. August, Straussberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE) Tesla’s Giga Berlin expansion plan rejected. The utility cited three reasons for rejecting Tesla’s expansion plan, including an inability to provide the amount of water needed to increase production.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) said: Support for increasing production of Giga Berlin. In a public dialogue in Potsdam, Germany, Mr. Scholz pointed out how important it is to maintain domestic companies to maintain and expand prosperity.
