Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan and Ministry of Environment of South Korea sign memorandum
AKIPRESS.COM – The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported on October 21.
The Memorandum is aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and joint development of renewable energy to counter the challenges of climate change.
The document was signed by Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev and Minister of Environment of the Republic of Korea Han Wha-jin.
The parties discussed a number of issues of cooperation in the energy sector before the signing ceremony.
Energy Minister Ibraev provided information about the energy potential of Kyrgyzstan, large and small hydroelectric power plants under construction, projects, reforms, laws and the problem of smog in the city. He also emphasized the need to exchange experience between the two countries to solve some problems in the energy sector.
In turn, Minister of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Korea Han Wha-jin emphasized the extensive experience of the Korean side in the development of green energy and the elimination of urban smog, and stated that they are ready to cooperate and exchange experience in this area.
On behalf of the Kyrgyz side, the negotiations were attended by Minister of Energy T. Ibraev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Aida Ismailova and senior staff of the Ministry of Energy.
