Freezing rain warnings have been issued for the following areas:

  • Halton Hills – Milton
  • Guelph – Erin – Southern Wellington County
  • Mount Forest – Arthur – Northern Wellington County
  • Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Region
  • Newmarket – Georgina – North York Region
  • Stratford-Mitchell-Southern Perth County

Freezing rain is expected or possible.

Cold rain is expected this afternoon and evening.

Hazard: Up to 2 mm of icing on some surfaces.

Timing: This afternoon until evening.

Thoughts: The approaching low pressure system is expected to bring freezing rain and rain to the region. Cold rain is expected to start this afternoon and gradually turn to rain by the evening.

The most significant freezing rain is expected in high-altitude areas.

Icing on ground and road surfaces is expected to be variable as the ground is still relatively warm in some areas.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, sidewalks, and parking lots can become icy and slippery. Be especially careful when walking or driving in affected areas. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falls below freezing and ice builds up, causing frozen roads.
