Hazy state from prescribed burns | Environment

The smoke that descended on the Taos Valley on Saturday (Oct. 21) was likely the result of two prescribed burns in the Carson National Forest and Santa Fe National Forest, according to a Carson National Forest spokesperson. That’s what it means.

Blas prescribed burns were ignited south of Canjiron on Friday (October 20) and all 841 acres were completed by Saturday. Also on Friday, in the adjacent Santa Fe National Forest, Rincon prescribed burns began in the Coyote Ranger area off Forest Road 8.
