Environmentally friendly outreach volunteers wanted by RivCo

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Are you interested in helping the environment? Do you like composting and recycling? Become an outreach volunteer with Riverside County Waste Resources Agency and help others become better recyclers and composters Help the planet by helping to become

Outreach volunteers assist classes and events by interacting with the public, answering questions about outreach programs, and distributing materials. The ideal volunteer is someone who enjoys meeting people, loves learning new things, and is passionate about the environment. His total volunteer work consists of attending orientation and training meetings and his 10 hours of volunteer time donated each year while participating in the program.

Opportunities to volunteer in classes and events exist throughout the county. Additionally, volunteers choose the event, date, and time that best suits them. Bilingual volunteers are needed.

Outreach volunteers can also participate in additional training and volunteer more hours to become certified as a master composter. Once a volunteer reaches master composter status, they are allowed to teach classes on their own or work with schools and community gardens as composting instructors. Outreach volunteers are essential to the success of the recycling and composting program and are recognized annually by the county for their dedication and hours of work.

Orientation and training is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Riverside County Waste Resources Department, 14310 Frederick Street in Moreno Valley.
