Sound Transit is working with the City of Lakewood to create a more connected network, giving more people the ability to walk, bike or take public transit to Lakewood Station and nearby destinations.
We developed a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) environmental checklist for this project. This checklist analyzes potential environmental impacts and benefits to both natural and man-made environmental resources, such as plants, animals, water, land use, transportation, and historic resources, resulting from the project. construction and operation. Based on the checklist and technical report, Sound Transit determined that the project was unlikely to have a significant adverse environmental impact and issued a Determination of Non-Significance (DNS).
Sound Transit is accepting comments on the SEPA environmental analysis until January 30, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Please see DNS on the Sound Transit website for instructions on how to submit comments.
In the spring of 2024, the Healthy Transportation Commission will select “projects to be built.” This means selecting a list of improvements to construct that fit within the project’s financial plan estimates. We will notify you of the date and time of the Board of Directors meeting when possible. The public can take actions on the board in person, online, or in writing.
Following the board’s decision, Sound Transit and the City of Lakewood will confirm a final design and construction agreement. We anticipate that Lakewood will construct most of the improvements on city land. Sound Transit will build improvements such as a shared walkway from the 115th Street Court SW cul-de-sac to the station, a reconfigured sidewalk on the 47th Avenue SW bridge, and improvements to the station itself.
