There are many environmental problems in today’s society and it is important that people take action to combat them.

The Bradley Environmental Club works to protect the natural world in the communities of Bradley and Peoria, and we encourage others to do the same.

Since being re-founded in 2021 after a period of suspension due to the coronavirus, the organization has grown to nearly 50 members.

The purpose of this organization is to host service projects that benefit the environment on and around campus.

“We hold small events dedicated to sustainable crafts.” [and] Gardening,” said Charlotte Tory, vice president and social media chair and junior UX design major. “For example, we recently held a plant swap and before that we made snowflakes out of recycled paper.”

The Environmental Club hosts a variety of volunteer opportunities. For example, a recent event we hosted in partnership with Illinois Central University’s Environmental Club cleaned up a section of the Illinois River.

“It was really amazing,” Tory said of the event. “We want to hold more outdoor cleanup events and make it a really great Earth Week.”

The organization’s long-term goals include involving more people in club activities and encouraging political involvement.

“We want to engage the campus community in an even larger cleanup effort,” Tory said. “We too [hope to] Be more politically active, considering this is an election year. ”

The progress and success of the Environmental Club can be attributed to the Executive Committee, which has worked diligently to plan the event. Mr Tory said the board was happy to work with other organizations if they had an idea that would benefit more than one club.

The Environmental Club meets every other Thursday at 6 p.m. For more information about the organization, please visit Instagram.
