BEIJING — China’s top parliament held a joint meeting on Sunday to deliberate and study three reports on ecological environment and resource protection.

The meeting was attended by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC).

Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, presided over the meeting and gave a speech.

Reports on law enforcement and judicial activities in the field of ecological environment and resource protection were submitted by the State Council, the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP).

Deputies asked questions during the investigation.

State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, People’s Party Chairman Zhang Jun, People’s Party Prosecutor General Yingyong, and officials from relevant central government agencies attended the meeting, heard proposals, and answered questions.

Mr. Li said that since the 18th Party Congress in 2012, the country’s efforts towards ecological civilization have undergone historic, transformative and comprehensive changes, and achieved remarkable success.

Mr. Li pointed out that the next five years are crucial for building a beautiful China, and urged efforts to promote the rule of law in ecological environment and resource protection and establish a sound and complete legal system in this regard. did.

Mr. Wang said the State Council and relevant departments will strive to strengthen the ability to combat and prevent crimes in environmental resources and support the high-quality development of high-level law enforcement agencies.

Mr. Zhang said that the People’s Court should actively respond to the growing needs of people seeking a better life, modernize the adjudication of environmental and resource cases, and introduce the concept of harmony between humanity and nature into concrete adjudication work. He said that he would further contribute to China’s modernization.

In his speech, Yin said the country’s prosecutorial authorities will handle all environmental and resource cases in a high-quality and efficient manner, contributing to further progress in the development of ecological civilization.
